The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art Presents
Live Arts Fest
January 10, 2015, 1 pm – 5 pm
1701 Main Street, Peekskill, NY
An art making event for all ages!
Imagine the excitement of watching the creative process unfold right before your eyes, as works of art are created from start to finish on one winter afternoon. Engage with professional painters, sculptors, dancers, tattoo artists, and spoken word artists as they make works of art, step-by-step, with your participation!
Not only will the artists be sharing and showing us their methods, but they will invite you to participate in their processes! You will have a chance to interact and to ask questions.
Brody will be making some of her clay books:
Brody creates books and journal pages in clay colored with oxides. It is a method of presenting more complex narratives. Many books have double sided pages and are bound, some are ‘pages’ from a journal, and some are writing on torsos without a page reference at all. Current books explore events just distant enough for some objectivity as she explores issues ranging from surgery, illness, being “the good daughter,” from infertility and divorce. The words come from songs, and musings about life, family, and aging. The accompanying writing is half poetical and half stream of consciousness. The female body serves as Brody’s palette. Mother, wife, old lady, artist, friend – growing older; it’s about (re)evaluating life.
