Brody creates archetypal female forms that reflect particularly figurative experiences. In “Musings,” the works take a personal turn as the forms become specific.
“The figures explore some of the changes in the past 10 years as I became a grandmother again and as my body and body image change.” Book pages, torsos, incised words on figures in stoneware with oxides are the musings on the state of being a woman of a certain age. Internal references to nature have changed as well from tree forest images as the figures now reflect classical fertility goddesses, incorporating bird features and frog imagery.
